Greece | There?s oil, gold and gas in those hills
?Not many people know that over-indebted Greece is an oil-producing country: although not a very big one, with only 2,000 barrels a day or 0.5% of its oil needs?, points out Le Monde which goes on to explain that Athens has decided to resume oil and gas exploration of reserves that have hitherto been disregarded.
?In recent months, the Greek government has launched calls for tender for exploration in three regions where surveys and seismic studies were conducted at the end of the 1990s ? in Ioannina in the north-west region of Epirus close to the Albanian border, and in the Ionian Sea.?
Major oil companies have been in no rush to bid for these deposits which are estimated at between 50 and 100 million barrels. However ?
? it?s the vast expanse of Greek waters close to Crete that is now the subject of high hopes following the discovery of gas in Israel and Cyprus. A Norwegian company Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has recently been selected to conduct maritime seismic studies in a 220,000 ?square kilometre area, which should go on for 18 months.?
In another ?rare piece of good news? for the crisis stricken country, ?Greece is to become Europe?s leading gold producer?, reports La Tribune. Emphasising that Greece already has ?major mining potential? (bauxite, perlite), the business daily explains that ?
?... in 2016, Greece could become Europe?s leading gold producer, overtaking Finland, which is currently the 40th-ranked supplier worldwide?.
Paradoxical as it may seem, the main reason for the increase in production is the economic crisis which has led Athens to speed up the granting of mining concessions, and to set aside a policy that ??was largely based on clientelism?. Now that they have been licensed, the projects proposed by two mining companies ? Canadian based Eldorado Gold and Australia?s Glory Resources ? are set to boost Greek gold production, which is expected ?to soar from 16,000 ounces [1 ounce = 31.1g] in 2011 to 425,000 ounces by 2016?, while generating large numbers of jobs.

( Even though no one asked ^.^ ) Period 5 ( Right after lunch ) Is gym for all the students. The school has 6 gym teachers and everyone in the school takes gym together. ( There is a gym uniform too! ) Since there are 6 gym teachers, the school is split into 6 groups, 3 boy groups and 3 girls groups. It's outside on nice days, and inside on crappy days. All of the girl characters in this rp, ( Except for the counselor ) will be in girls group 1 together. All of the boy characters in this rp will be in boys group 1 together. ( Along with some NPC's of course ) And the groups are all in separate parts of the field. The girls and boys in the same group do the same activity just not really together.

Defence Headquarters: military not involved ? The Nation
The Defence Headquarters yesterday attributed the killings to reprisals by some armed robbers.
It also denied that the military was involved in the killings, contrary to what had been reported by some international media.
The Defence Headquarters made the clarification in a statement last night by it?s Director of Information, Col. M.M. Yerima.
The statement said: ?The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to the unsubstantiated claims by CNN and Aljazeera alleging that the Nigerian Military carried out an early morning attack on Muslim worshippers in a mosque at Dogo Dawa, a village near Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State, where twenty people were allegedly killed by unknown gunmen.
?This is contrary to reports by other local and international media organizations, who reported that the attack was carried out by unknown gunmen.
?Investigation revealed that the killing was a reprisal by a gang of armed robbers who lost some of their members after a recent raid of their hide out through the combined effort of the villagers and the vigilance group in that community.
?The Defence Headquarters wishes to state categorically in the interest of the larger society that no member of the Nigerian Armed Forces was involved in the said attack which occurred in the early hours of Sunday the 14th October 2012.
?We wish to reassure the general public of our readiness to offer assistance to the Nigerian Police Force and other Security Agencies whose primary responsibility is the maintenance of law and order in the society.
? We are committed to the defence and protection of our country?s hard earned democracy and more importantly, the Nigerian Armed Forces belong to the Nigerian people and cannot be an instrument of lawlessness and destruction of the very people it has sworn to protect, as alleged by the reports.
?We urge members of the public to go about their legitimate businesses without any fear of molestation from any quarter, and to also report any breach of peace and security in the society to law enforcement agencies.
?Please disseminate this information for the awareness of the general public.Thank you for your usual cooperation and please accept the warmest regards of the Chief of Defence Staff.?
